Brahmachari Sudhanand ji and Karan Rawat honoured with 6th Ankit Junaid social harmony award

The Ankit Junaid social harmony award for youth was started in September 2018, by Khudai Khidmatgar in memory of Hafiz Junaid and Ankit Saxena. Junaid was Killed brutally in a train two days before Eid  while Ankit, killed in Delhi for loving a girl from different faith. The fellowship and award includes a Memento, a Certificate, a Shawl and a Cash Award.  This Year 6th Ankit Junaid Social Harmony Award was given to Bhramcahari Sudhanand AND Karan Rawat during the award ceremony held in Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi  on  24th May 2025 . The Award Was Given by Magsaysay Awardee Social Activist Dr Sandeep Pandey , Eminent Socialist thinker and Farmer Leader Dr Sunilam , Senior Gandhian Ramesh Chand Sharma Ji ,Khudai Khidmatgar National Coordinator Faisal Khan .

The Award Ceremony was followed by an interactive session on “Youth and Communalism ” which was coordinated by Khudai khidmatgar leader Rizwan Khan. Khudai Khidmatgar Leader Kripal Singh Mandloi gave a brief introduction and spoke about the objective of the Award and fellowship .He Mentioned that The object of this award and scholarship is to nurture the seeds of communal harmony amongst the youths who will become a part of the mainstream in the future. As we all know, it’s the youth who are the torch bearers of the society, so it’s very important to promote brotherhood /sisterhood and communal harmony for a better society. Moreover, we need to develop creative and innovative methods of peace building in the society which will help in cementing the gaps between the communities. Therefore, this award also aims at bringing fraternity and unity in the society. He also gave a brief introduction of the awardees

Bhramcahari Sudhanand ji just completed LLB Final Year from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna University, Srinagar, Garhwal, Uttarakhand.  .He Appeared and argued as pleader and in-person right from District Court Haridwar, Uttarakhand High Court and Supreme Court of India in PIL matters and matters concerning a social cause under the able guidance of His Holiness Shri Gurudev Ji . He is Presently living a renounced life and has taken diksha from His Holiness Shri Gurudev Swami Shri Shivanand Ji Maharaj in Haridwar . Sudhanand ji has dedicated his life for a higher calling which continues to guide me in all my pursuits.

Karan Rawat is engaged with multiple NGOs and organizations advocating for religious and gender minorities. In Delhi, he joined The Humsafar Trust to advocate for gender and sexual minorities, fought for inclusion with the Gandhinagar Pride Foundation via sensitization sessions, and organized impactful protests with groups like The Collective and BSC against policies targeting Muslims and Dalits. Throughout his journey of ground work with different organizations with different roles and responsibilities his goal remains ever  determined to stand alongside marginalized communities in their pursuit of justice and equality.

Farmer leader and socialist thinker Dr Sunilam said farmer’s life which also happens to be village life is always all inclusive and there’s  a tradition of combined labor , compassion , brotherhood and peaceful coexistence in rural India .In recent times there have been political attempts to pollute it however villages of India will always produce love no hate. He also expressed solidarity with kids of Gaza who are exposed to war and hunger.

Social activist Dr Sandeep Pandey mentioned that hate based on caste is much more engraved and normalized than that of religion. Which can only be addressed by ensuring social justice and humanity. He said that the moment we realize all human beings belong to each other we understand the concept of  “ Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam “. Realization of this belongingness and mutual compassion is the antidote of hate and is the only way for world peace.

Senior Gandhian Ramesh Chand Sharma  ji mentioned that we all have been living in this country with peace and compassion for many many years . He mentioned that  the present tense situation is all created by people with vested political interests . Which can only be countered with Gandhian ways of mutual respect , compassion and non violence . He said that this situation won’t last long as we are the nation where peaceful coexistence is the upbringing of our nation .He also sang Gandhi bhajan on the occasion.

Khudai Khidmatgar national leader Faisal khan said that we can counter hate and communalism only by propagating peace and compassion and there could be no better tribute to Ankit-Junaid that we spread unity , Peace and harmony in their memory. He spoke about various initiatives and interventions done by Khudai khidmatgar India  and expressed necessity of continuous efforts for the cause with inspiration of Gandhi , Sarhadi Gandhi Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan , Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar  also form Meera bai , Kabeer , Raskhan . He shared several examples of our composite culture and expressed our responsibility to carry forward the legacy.

Apart from the above speakers , Dalit activist and Khudai Khidmatgar leader Ilaiya Kumar, youth spiritual leader Acharya Ramanuj, advocate Atikesavan, Dr. Sant Prakash, Navneet Tiwari, Fight For Right convener Dalbir Singh, Khudai Khidmatgar leader Nargis Khan, social activist Poonam Singh, educationist Maulana Arshad Nadvi, Sadbhavana Manch convener Maulana Javed Qasmi, human rights activist Manoj Silvaraj, youth leader Haider Mujibur, activist Working Youth from Nagaland Asimbe also expressed their views.

Both the awardees also expressed their views on the youth and communalism. They mentioned how the real issues of youth become backstage with communalism and hate. Karan Rawat mentioned that Growing up as the only Hindu child in a Muslim-majority community, he always experienced unity beyond religion, caste, and gender. This background, coupled with identity as a queer person, deepened his understanding and empathy for all marginalized groups. He dedicated this award to all the victims of violence, hate and injustice worldwide. 

Bhramcahari Sudhanand ji shared his experiences while working for the cause of the holy river Ganga and its natural ecosystem. He also mentioned it’s the youth who develop future societies and we all need to work on building a better society respecting diversity , peace and the constitutional value . He dedicated this award to Matri  Sadan Ashram and Sant Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand ji.


Khudai khidmatgar women wing leader Sameera Ahmed congratulated awardees and said  both the awardees are dedicated to human values, equality, goodwill,compassion and nation building in true sense. Ayush Chaudhary, Nargis khan, Asimbe, Ziaul Haque, Aziz Alam, Mursaleen Chaudhary, Tabish Bhatti, Yash Lohar, Advocate Haider Mujeeb, Supreme Court Advocate Javed Malik, Aryaman, Ilaiya Kumar, Parvez Alam, Navneet, Advocate Verma, M.M Islam, Rizwan Ansari, Hakeem Akbar, Javed Iqbal, Sushil Khanna, Mohammad Anas Guru, Mohammad Chand Sheikh, Ehsan shaikh and several young social workers were present on the occasion.
