Today is my dear father’s 107th birthday, he was born this day in Allahabad in 1918; just before the end of the first world war. I have written about him before, so will not repeat myself: this is what I posted on his centenary in 2018; it contains a short account of his life. And this is a memory of the Sainik School Kunjpura, of which he was the founding Principal; and which all of us old Kunjeyans remember with wonder and love.

The photograph below was taken in the school campus, in 1962. My father wore the uniform of an officer in the Indian Army with great pride: he was in the Corps of Signals; and retired in 1967. He went on to become Principal of La Martiniere for Boys, Calcutta; the first Indian Headmaster of the Doon School; and Principal of Cathedral and John Connon School, Bombay.

To him and my dear mother, Georgina Simeon, to whom I dedicated this blog in 2022, all I can say is thank you and I love you
