NB: Many of us still don’t understand that this is an RSS government (the Sangh has many faces); and that it has no politics except (1) the rectification of history (i.e. defeating the Mughal Empire three centuries after its demise); and (2) grabbing control of public funds for sectarian purposes and for its corporate backers. In brief: culture wars for the public; and number-crunching for the corporations.
For them, an alliance with the USA & Israel is a pavlovian reflex because they see Israel as a machine for the extermination of a certain community. There’s no other reason for their choices. (When Trump was elected the first time, VHP cadres were seen rubbing ladoos onto cardboard cutouts of the Donald). And our Great Leader was never happier than in the company of huggable people like Zuckerburg and Trump. Yuk.
So in a nutshell, the Sangh has:
NO politics aside from communal hatred and revenge against the Mughal Empire
NO economic policy apart from manipulating state institutions (and religious beliefs) for amassing wealth
This was always the sum total of their reason for existence. For four decades -1986 to 2026, they flew the flag of ‘hurt sentiment’ about a ‘disputed structure’. Soon after the project was completed, it was discovered that vast sums of money were embezzled from an emblematic place of worship.
And in place of the promise of prosperity it appears that India’s young people are demoralised enough to kill themselves: According to the National Crime Records Bureau, student suicides have jumped 80 percent in the last decade: more than a hundred and twenty thousand over ten years, and over two thousand students die annually due to exam failures. Suddenly they are expressing their anger fearlessly.
What will this unregistered ‘body of individuals’ (as the RSS describes itself) do now? After a century of sophistry, during which they have been assisted by powerful individuals from other parties, including the Indian National Congress; they will try once more (who can be sure they won’t return to their favorite tactic?) of inciting communal hatred. Perhaps it will work – I sincerely hope the Indian people have seen through this evil design.
But whatever happens, they will have hollowed out the efficiency and stature of state institutions – in the spheres of policing, justice, elections, education etc., by making them extensions of a totalitarian scheme. If everything belongs to the RSS, nothing will retain dignity. Self-praise does not make one praiseworthy – genuine praise is that which is given spontaneously, by others. Dear pracharaks – you imagined you have inherited everything – open your eyes: it’s an empty vessel. You are living in a dream world and sooner or later will awaken to a nightmare.
